Senior Software Engineer

WGU is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to research, design, develop, and implement scalable, high-quality software systems across the full stack. This role involves modern web applications and services, working with frontend, backend, and APIs, and partnering with product, design, and engineering teams to solve complex problems and improve system performance. The engineer will focus on cloud-native development on AWS, handle student data responsibly, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a strong engineering culture.

• Design, build, and deliver scalable, high-quality software systems across the full stack
• Develop modern web applications and services using Java/Spring Boot, TypeScript/Node.js, and Angular
• Build cloud-native, event-driven services on AWS, including containerized microservices
• Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to solve complex problems
• Own the operational health of student-facing systems and handle student data responsibly (FERPA)
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture
