Principal API Architect/Engineer – API Platform (Python/Typescript)

Workday is seeking a Principal API Architect to lead API strategy for agentic and integration-heavy scenarios within Product Engineering. You will define and evolve API architecture, set standards for REST, GraphQL, and SOAP, and partner with leaders to implement these across teams. This role involves mentoring engineers, driving API design reviews, and evaluating tools to enhance API development and operation.

• Act as Chief API Architect for Product Engineering
• Define and evolve API architecture, standards, and review processes
• Partner with product and platform leaders to shape the operating model
• Establish and maintain API standards for OpenAPI, resource modeling, auth, error handling, and versioning
• Define reference architectures for agent-ready APIs and data-centric APIs
• Mentor senior engineers and managers on API architecture and distributed systems
