Software Engineer, Networking (Edge)

Tailscale is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain their global networking infrastructure, including Funnel and DERP relay systems. This role involves ensuring scalability, high availability, and performance of hosted services, troubleshooting complex network issues, and contributing to open-source client code. The position requires strong networking knowledge, software development skills, and experience with SRE/DevOps methodologies.

• Design, construct, and document networking features and connectivity solutions
• Develop and enhance Funnel and DERP relay infrastructures
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex escalated network difficulties
• Integrate observability and manage incident response for live services
• Evaluate and improve performance, reliability, and scaling of networking systems
• Apply a security-centric approach to all development stages
