Staff Software Engineer - AI Platform / Distributed Systems Engineer

Workato is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and build the distributed backend for their AI agent platform. This role involves architecting scalable, event-driven services, integrating AI technologies, and influencing technical direction across teams. You will focus on building foundational systems for millions of users and ensuring reliability, scalability, and developer experience.

• Architect and build highly scalable, event-driven backend systems
• Design core platform capabilities including APIs, streaming services, and gateways
• Lead technical design and evolution of distributed systems
• Integrate LLMs, agent frameworks, and other AI-native capabilities
• Drive initiatives end-to-end from ideation to continuous improvement
• Establish engineering best practices and mentor engineers
