Principal Backend Engineer

WeightWatchers is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to build and scale the systems powering their digital health platform. You will own the technical design and implementation of critical backend services, focusing on performance, reliability, and supporting millions of members. This role involves modernizing data foundations, ensuring operational excellence, and mentoring other engineers.

• Lead backend design and implementation of member experience services
• Improve search relevance and data quality for the global food database
• Define and monitor SLIs/SLOs for service performance and uptime
• Create technical designs and lead code reviews for complex backend features
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers
• 8+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems
