Backend Software Engineer

Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology seeks a Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain web applications and services supporting biodiversity conservation. You will work with a high-performance engineering team to build technical infrastructure and data-driven services for global communities.

• Design, develop, and maintain complex web-based applications and services
• Participate in the design and evolution of technical infrastructure and cloud-based systems
• Develop web-based systems, APIs, and database applications using Java, Spring, and SQL
• Experience with containerization (Kubernetes/Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support birds and biodiversity conservation
