Backend Software Engineer — Secure Mission Systems

Rackner is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build secure backend services for a Department of Defense customer, supporting mission-planning and decision-support capabilities. This primarily remote role involves hands-on ownership of APIs, data flows, and automated testing, with periodic onsite collaboration in Laurel, Maryland. You will work with technologies like Python, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL within a secure software delivery environment.

• Design, develop, test, and integrate secure backend services and APIs
• Build backend services using Python, FastAPI, and C#
• Develop REST APIs and support service-to-service communication using gRPC
• Build asynchronous and distributed workflows using RabbitMQ and Celery
• Develop and integrate relational and geospatial data capabilities using PostgreSQL and PostGIS
• Containerize and deploy backend services in OpenShift-based environments

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

• Requires a Secret security clearance.
