Staff, Software Engineer

Tempus is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and development of their Java/Spring and React platform for precision genomics and clinical reporting. This hands-on technical leadership role involves setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and partnering with scientific experts to build reliable and performant systems in a regulated clinical environment.

• Architect, develop, and enhance Java/Spring and React applications for scientific workflows
• Design and own data models, APIs, and search/query strategies for genomic variant data
• Lead design and development of scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system reliability
• Advocate for best practices in software engineering, code quality, and CI/CD
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with full-stack development focus
