Onto Innovation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Inspection Business Unit. In this role, you will develop a deep understanding of our complex semiconductor inspection platforms, encompassing optics, mechanics, electronics, and software. You will translate customer challenges into technical solutions, leveraging your systems-thinking abilities and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and ensure product quality.

- Develop and maintain a holistic mental model of complex inspection systems
- Translate customer problems into well-defined engineering tasks across subsystems
- Apply machine learning, image processing, and computer vision to develop algorithms
- Write, test, and debug high-quality, performant, and scalable software
- Collaborate with hardware, application, and product teams in New Product Development
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving team workflows, including AI-assisted practices
