Senior Software Engineer/Data Scientist

The Hartford is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to build and deploy machine learning solutions for complex business and regulatory needs. This role involves collaborating with Product, Underwriting, and Risk teams to deliver scalable, secure, and production-ready solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong statistical modeling, ML fundamentals, and Python skills, with the ability to communicate analytical outcomes effectively to business partners.

• Build and evaluate models using GLMs, GBMs, and related approaches
• Assess model performance and stability, diagnose overfitting, and document findings
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand analytical objectives and translate results into recommendations
• Contribute to process improvement and automation efforts
• Define and track metrics for classification, forecasting, and business KPIs
• Stay current on developments in ML, statistical modeling, and best practices
