Staff Research Engineer, Data Agents

Databricks is seeking a Staff Research Engineer to join their AI Research team focused on developing frontier enterprise data agents. This role involves bridging cutting-edge AI research with product development, shipping improvements to their agent product, Genie. You will work on autonomous planning, code generation, and multi-step workflow execution within complex enterprise environments.

• Develop post-training recipes for enterprise data agents
• Enable autonomous planning, code generation, and multi-step workflows
• Partner with product teams to integrate research into agentic experiences
• Build systems for agents to discover and use Lakehouse context
• Raise technical bar through design, execution, debugging, and mentorship
• 2+ years of experience in applied research with production shipping
