Principal Applied Scientist (User Modeling)

Join Zillow's Agentic AI team as a Principal Applied Scientist to build foundational user models that power the next generation of home shopping experiences. You will leverage cutting-edge sequence modeling, causal inference, and reinforcement learning to understand user journeys and drive product impact at a massive scale. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex, ambiguous projects end-to-end and provide technical leadership in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

• Build and train foundational user models for next-gen home shopping experiences
• Apply sequence modeling, causal inference, and reinforcement learning to real-world problems
• Own LLM post-training pipelines (SFT, DPO, RFT/GRPO) and reward model development
• Design and implement on-policy and online assessment frameworks
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to scientists and MLEs
• Translate state-of-the-art AI research into production impact at scale
