About this role
Caterpillar is seeking a Senior SOTIF Engineer to join their AI Product Assurance team in Pittsburgh, PA. This role focuses on leading and executing Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF) activities for AI-enabled and autonomous systems, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated throughout the product lifecycle. You will collaborate across teams to define SOTIF strategies, develop safety arguments, and generate evidence for product release.
What we are looking for
6- Lead SOTIF activities for AI-enabled, autonomous, and safety-related control systems
- Develop and maintain SOTIF lifecycle aligned with ISO 6135 and integrated with functional safety
- Identify hazards, functional insufficiencies, and reasonably foreseeable misuse
- Define Operational Design Domains (ODDs), behaviors, scenarios, and boundary conditions
- Drive scenario-based safety analysis and specify/evaluate SOTIF mitigation measures
- Define verification and validation strategies combining simulation, testing, and data analysis
