Senior Applied ML Engineer

Upstart is seeking a Senior Applied ML Engineer to join their Applied LLM team. This role focuses on building foundational infrastructure for generative AI and integrating LLMs into core products. You will design and build user-facing ML features, own technical architecture, and develop scalable services.

• Design and build user-facing ML features using LLMs and generative AI
• Partner with product, design, and ML research to prototype and deliver ML-powered experiences
• Own technical architecture and implementation strategy for applied ML systems
• Build scalable services and APIs for model outputs
• Collaborate across teams to ensure ML deployments meet safety, fairness, and performance standards
• Establish best practices for prompt design, model evaluation, and experimentation
