Sr Applied Data Scientist - Search and Browse (Applied ML, NLP, LLMs)

Target is seeking a Senior Applied Data Scientist to join their Search and Browse team. This role focuses on developing and deploying machine learning models for search ranking, personalization, and semantic retrieval systems to enhance product discovery on digital platforms. You will work with large-scale data, apply modern ML techniques including LLMs and GenAI, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Develop and deploy scalable ML models for search ranking, browse personalization, and semantic retrieval
• Design and execute experiments to improve relevance, engagement, and customer satisfaction
• Apply modern ML techniques including embeddings, transformers, NLP, vector search, and GenAI/RAG
• Improve query understanding, catalog understanding, and semantic retrieval for large retail catalogs
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams
• Mentor junior scientists and collaborate across teams
