Research Engineer, Privacy and Anonymization (Mid-Level)

Clera is seeking a Research Engineer to build and deploy systems that protect sensitive data for AI. You will develop novel methods for detecting and transforming personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive data, ensuring its safe use in AI training and evaluation while preserving data utility. This role involves creating robust production pipelines and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement practical privacy safeguards.

• Build systems to detect and transform PII and sensitive information
• Develop and benchmark detection methods using ML and LLM approaches
• Create production pipelines for data anonymization
• Measure privacy risk and data utility with evaluation frameworks
• Handle schema drift and unusual data formats
• Partner with engineering, research, and customers on privacy requirements
