Applied Machine Learning Scientist 2

The Washington Post is seeking an Applied Machine Learning Scientist to build AI/ML systems for reader engagement, focusing on personalization, recommendations, and generative AI. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform data into intelligent reader experiences and improve journalism.

• Design, train, and deploy ML models for personalization, recommendation, and ranking
• Build systems for reader discovery, homepage ranking, and content recommendations
• Apply modern ML techniques including LLMs and GenAI
• Support AI-powered reader experiences like content understanding and intelligent discovery
• Work across the ML lifecycle from problem definition to deployment and monitoring
• Design and conduct offline and online evaluations, including A/B testing
