Research Engineer - Midtraining

Periodic Labs is seeking a Midtraining Research Engineer to improve scientific reasoning in frontier AI models. You will curate and generate data, build evaluations, and run large-scale training experiments to accelerate breakthroughs in materials and energy. This role is crucial for developing deep scientific knowledge and reasoning capabilities in AI.

• Curate and generate scientific data for large-scale model training
• Build evaluations to assess downstream scientific task performance
• Apply techniques like self-distillation and on-policy distillation
• Design and execute large-scale training experiments
• Develop tools to analyze data's impact on model intelligence
• Experience training LLMs on trillions of tokens
