Senior Applied Machine Learning Scientist

The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Applied Machine Learning Scientist to lead the development of advanced AI/ML systems for journalism. This role will focus on generative AI, search, retrieval, ranking, and reader experiences, applying ML techniques to enhance news delivery and reader engagement.

• Lead applied research and development for AI/ML systems
• Design, train, evaluate, and deploy advanced AI/ML models
• Build and improve AI-powered experiences like Ask The Post and semantic search
• Design rigorous offline and online evaluations, including A/B testing
• Develop scalable and efficient production ML systems
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior scientists
