Engineer II, AI/ML

CarMax is seeking an Engineer II, ML & AI Engineering to build and operate scalable machine learning and AI capabilities. You will partner with Data Scientists to productionize models, develop inference services, and ensure operational excellence for AI/ML solutions that enhance customer experiences. This role requires a strong software and cloud engineering background with a passion for AI/ML innovation.

• Build and maintain production ML capabilities from feature engineering to deployment
• Design and build agentic AI systems with focus on reliability and observability
• Own operational health of production ML and agentic systems, including monitoring and incident response
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to translate experimental work into production-grade code
• Partner with engineering and product teams to deliver mission-critical AI/ML capabilities
• 2+ years of professional experience in software, systems, ML, or AI engineering
