Machine Learning Scientist, New AI Products and Platforms

The New York Times is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist to develop AI-powered reader experiences. You will design and train embedding models and fine-tune language models to enhance journalism and business applications. This role involves implementing and deploying ML research, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring responsible AI practices.

• Design and train embedding models using transformer encoders and Two Tower architectures
• Fine-tune and evaluate language models for custom use cases and content enrichment
• Contribute to shared practices around evaluation and responsible AI use
• Implement and deploy machine learning and AI research with robustness and reproducibility
• Adapt or develop ML and AI algorithms when existing techniques are insufficient
• Communicate complex ideas in machine learning and AI to diverse colleagues
