Staff Software Engineer, Compute (Temporal Cloud)

Temporal is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Compute team, focusing on building managed compute primitives for Temporal Cloud. This role involves inventing, architecting, and operating scalable, reliable, and observable compute systems that abstract infrastructure complexity for customers.

• Create new managed compute primitives with clean APIs and extension capabilities
• Design self-optimizing autoscaling systems for worker fleets
• Define the Open Source Server ↔ Cloud boundary for compute
• Architect, build, and operate services on the hot path of task execution
• Deliver real-world cloud integrations including IAM, security, and networking
• Own outcomes like SLOs, incident response, and continuous hardening
