About this role

GDIT is seeking a UNIX/Linux/Solaris Engineer to support the NIH CIT HSS program in Bethesda, MD. You will maintain mission-critical systems, focusing on Solaris and Red Hat Linux on VMware, while implementing automation to enhance reliability and security. This hybrid role involves operating, patching, and securing systems, automating processes, and responding to incidents.

What we are looking for

Administer Solaris (Zones/LDOMs) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux on VMware
Perform OS lifecycle management, patching, and hardware maintenance
Automate patching and operational tasks using Ansible or Puppet
Monitor system health and security using tools like SL1, Tenable, and Splunk
Manage incidents and changes via ServiceNow and participate in on-call rotations
Document SOPs and runbooks
