Staff Systems Engineer

Abbott is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer in Plano, Texas, to lead the architecture, design, and requirements definition for complex active implantable medical-device platforms. This role involves translating clinical and user needs into robust system solutions across hardware, firmware, and software, guiding product development from concept to commercialization.

• Lead system architecture, design, and requirements strategy for complex neuromodulation products
• Translate patient, clinician, and business needs into measurable system requirements
• Guide system design across electrical hardware, embedded firmware, algorithms, and software
• Define and assess system behaviors, performance budgets, and tradeoffs
• Partner with firmware and software teams to shape embedded control and data-analysis algorithms
• Apply risk management and design-control practices for regulated medical devices
