Principal Data Scientist

Wiley is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead end-to-end domain-specific content modeling for research intelligence systems. This hands-on role involves building and deploying production NLP pipelines to extract information from millions of scientific articles, optimizing them for agentic applications. You will own model development, evaluation, and production deployment, working closely with data engineers and product managers.

• Design and build NLP enrichment pipelines for scientific text extraction
• Compare and select NLP approaches, including LLMs and traditional methods
• Own model evaluation, metric selection, and trade-off analysis
• Write production-quality Python code for high-volume workloads
• Collaborate with data engineers on pipeline orchestration (Airflow, Dagster)
• Contribute to agentic AI application development and grounding
