Associate Director, Data Scientist

Gilead Sciences is seeking an Associate Director, Data Scientist to lead AI operations and applied innovation. This role involves managing contractors, providing technical direction for AI prototypes and production systems, and guiding the development and deployment of AI capabilities across research, development, and enterprise use cases. The position requires a PhD or MS/BS with extensive experience in AI/ML and a strong understanding of generative AI and MLOps.

• Manage contractors and technical delivery partners for AI initiatives
• Provide hands-on technical direction for AI prototypes and production systems
• Lead development, evaluation, and deployment of AI capabilities
• Apply product thinking to ensure AI solutions address user needs and business priorities
• Design AI solution architectures and guide development of generative AI systems
• Ensure AI solutions adhere to governance, privacy, and responsible AI expectations
