Job Title Student Technician Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Institute for Advancing Health through Agriculture-Project Management Proposed Minimum Salary $7.25 hourly Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Student Worker Job Description Job Description Summary The student technician provides hands-on assistance in analytical chemistry, chemical or biological engineering, food and agricultural science, or clinical research, supporting daily lab operations and assisting researchers on multidisciplinary projects. Essential Duties/Tasks • Assists researchers and laboratory scientists with daily lab tasks and experimental workflows. • Prepares and processes samples for analysis using a variety of techniques and instruments • Performs basic lab work such as weighing, pipetting, labeling, organizing samples, and logging data. • Maintains general lab cleanliness and upkeep of: lab benches, autoclave room, microscopy lab, and common instrument areas. • Operates and performs routine cleaning and calibration of laboratory equipment. • Assists with autoclaving lab waste and sterilizing materials. • Receives and logs incoming packages and samples; prepare outgoing shipments. • Helps with inventory management, restocking supplies, and keeping records up to date. • Lifts and moves lab equipment or supplies (up to ~25 lbs) when needed. • Follows lab safety guidelines and help ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). • Contributes to maintaining an organized and functional research environment. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: • Current undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University. • Major in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical or Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, Food Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field preferred. • Previous lab experience is required but lab specific training will be provided. Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Previous lab experience is required but lab specific training will be provided • Ability to follow instructions, work with minimal instruction, and manage time effectively. • Must be detail-oriented, dependable, and willing to perform both technical and routine lab tasks. • Stand for extended periods during lab work. What we are looking for
