About this role
As a Principal Data Scientist on the Foundation Models team, you will define the direction for shared AI models that power various Walmart businesses. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of these models, from identifying high-impact opportunities and influencing stakeholders to leading execution and driving production adoption. This senior individual contributor role offers significant autonomy to shape the future of AI at Walmart.
What we are looking for 6
- Define problem statements and solution direction for foundation models
- Own full lifecycle: spotting bets, stakeholder alignment, science formulation, and execution
- Lead large-scale distributed GPU training and inference optimization
- Drive adoption of models through A/B tests and production rollout
- Mentor scientists and engineers, and represent Walmart through publications/patents
- 10+ years of deep learning experience with expertise in Recommender Systems, Language Models, or Multimodal Models
