Principal Infrastructure Security Engineer

Upstart is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Security Engineer to define and drive the technical strategy for securing their production infrastructure and developer platforms. This role involves leading cross-functional efforts to reduce systemic infrastructure risk, influencing architecture roadmaps, and building scalable security controls. The ideal candidate will have deep infrastructure security expertise and strong engineering judgment to implement practical, high-impact improvements.

• Define and drive infrastructure security strategy
• Own security roadmap for cloud, platform, compute, and deployment environments
• Lead security architecture reviews for critical infrastructure initiatives
• Identify and reduce systemic infrastructure security risks
• Establish standards and patterns for production access and infrastructure hardening
• Partner with engineering teams to improve security of AI-assisted developer workflows
