Principal, Security Engineering and Operations

As a Principal Security Engineer, you will be a senior technical leader responsible for shaping, engineering, and operating enterprise security platforms at Northern Trust. You will set technical direction, define engineering patterns, mentor other engineers, and ensure our security platforms meet the high reliability and control standards expected in a regulated financial institution.

• Technical authority for security platform engineering and operational governance
• Design, engineer, and operate security tools including SASE/SSE, zero-trust, and AI guardrails
• Define engineering patterns, standards, and runbooks for consistent adoption
• Develop maturity models and metrics for assurance and compliance
• Support audits and regulatory exams with evidence-ready controls
• 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity, cloud, or platform engineering with enterprise-scale ownership
