Security Engineer - Governance Risk Compliance

xAI is seeking an experienced Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) professional to ensure adherence to regulatory, ethical, and federal boundaries for AI development and deployment, particularly for government and public sector applications. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to safeguard sensitive and classified environments, manage risks, and achieve compliance certifications.

• Execute security compliance implementation and audits (ISO 27001/42001, SOC2, FedRAMP HIGH, DoD SRG, NIST 800-53/171, CMMC, RMF)
• Work with 3PAOs and federal government AOs for compliance certifications and ATO
• Identify, assess, and prioritize risks related to AI operations, cybersecurity, and cloud deployments
• Design and implement risk mitigation strategies, including monitoring systems and POAMs
• Lead Risk Management Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes and cloud system risk assessments
• Serve as a subject matter expert on risk, compliance, and cybersecurity matters
