Cybersecurity Application Security Engineer

Nelnet is seeking an Application Security Engineer to partner with engineering, cloud, and product teams to secure applications, services, and AI components. This role involves hands-on technical testing, automation, and developer enablement to mature the AppSec program and ensure secure applications at speed. The position requires US citizenship due to government contract requirements.

• Perform manual source code review
• Conduct SAST/DAST scanning
• Develop automated source code review processes
• Integrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines
• Assess and communicate risks to management and engineering
• Experience with AI/LLM security and attack surfaces

• Requires a Public Trust security clearance.
